'Dictator' Trailer: Sacha Baron Cohen Takes On Obama, Kardashians And More
It's been a little while since we've heard from Sacha Baron Cohen on the solo comedy front. Back in 2006, every annoying person you know dressed up as Borat for Halloween, but increasing familiarity with his mockumentary tactics made it more and more difficult for Cohen to film without being noticed. Cue "The Dictator," a classically Cohen character who isn't making his debut mockumentary style. The trailer for the film, which just arrived via Moviefone, reveals a very conventionally shot take on a very goofy character -- half the typical formula, updated for modern times. It opens with newsreel footage of President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking about a terrible tyrant who's controlled his country for over four decades. That could be a serious documentary about Gaddafi or Saddam or someone else, right? It then cuts to Cohen as the eponymous dictator for a montage of ostentatious goofiness, with the bearded leader crowing upon reaching NYC, "Ah, America, the birthplace of AIDS!" So yes, not very serious! In the background, you'll notice stars like John C. Reilly and Ben Kingsley (that guy can and will act in anything). There's also a cameo by Megan Fox, apparently playing herself, whom the dictator pays a lot of money to sleep with, and a cheap, pointed dig at the Kardashians. That'll put it on par with the other low brow Cohen classics, though we're not sure anything could eclipse the abundance of genitalia that blared on screen in "Bruno." We're still washing our eyes out from that one. "The Dictator" will drop in May 2012, and we'll surely see a lot more over-the-top clips before then. Tell us what you think of the "Dictator" trailer in the comments section and on Twitter!

Judge upholds Occupy eviction from park
Having faced down every news org in the city during the abortive eviction of Occupy Wall Street protesters at Zuccotti Park in mid-October, the NYPD elected to carry out a second operation without any warning and under an apparent media blackout on Tuesday between midnight and 2 a.m. CBS was asked to keep air space over the park clear (the net had been live streaming the confrontation between protesters and police). Rosie Gray of the Village Voice told an NYPD officer that she was a member of the press, to which the officer reportedly responded, "Not tonight." Other reporters confirmed that they were not allowed into the park, although many managed to report on the event despite discouragement and reported threats that the police would confiscate press credentials if journalists refused to obey orders. Many outlets ran YouTube clips filmed by protesters themselves. By Tuesday afternoon, Zuccotti Park was partially reopened to the public, with police on hand to bar protesters who appeared to be attempting to smuggle in contraband, which now includes tents, generators and sleeping bags. NY Supreme Court Justice Michael Stallman retroactively upheld the group's eviction from the park on Tuesday afternoon, saying that the First Amendment did not guarantee activists the right to indefinitely set up shop in the plaza. Journalists arrested during the Tuesday crackdowns include AP reporter Karen Matthews, AP photog Seth Wenig, Daily News reporter Matthew Lysiak, NPR freelancer Julie Walker and NY Times freelancer Jared Maslin. Many tweeted news of forced removal from the scene under the hashtag #mediablackout. Manhattan City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez was also arrested. One outlet not caught by surprise was the NY Post, which has been campaigning for a shutdown of the protest for several weeks. The News Corp. newspaper's late city final had a censored picture of a naked protester taken the day prior and a full story on the eviction, with details about Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's meeting with FDNY commissioner Sal Cassano and police commissioner Ray Kelly. The story was posted at 1:20 a.m. on the Post's website, around the time the Mayor's Office tweeted orders to the protesters to clear out with the #OWS hashtag. On Tuesday, the paper published an editorial calling the operation "a long-overdue fumigation." After the eviction, dozens of Occupy protesters were left without a port of call; the media, now fully awake, followed OWS to Duarte Park, a private park owned by sometime Occupy ally Trinity Wall Street, an Episcopal church. Protesters hopped the wooden fence and climbed through a hole in the chainlink to begin setting up shop. Inside, a group from the Occupy "puppet guild" nervously manned a three-person Statue of Liberty puppet. "Are they coming in?" one asked a recent arrival. "We have to decide whether we're out or in, because it looks like they're going to block us inside," he said. Tony and Oscar winner Frances McDormand watched from the sidewalk and participated in the chanting as the crackdown began, although she asked not to be quoted for this article. Word arrived that Trinity Wall Street, which owns the space, had asked protesters not to set up shop at Duarte Square, and a white police bus pulled up at the front of the park as police blocked the chainlink hole in the rear. A comedy group inside the park practiced "getting arrested" for the audience on the other side of the fence -- one hit another while shouting, "You're resisting arrest! You're resisting arrest!" About half an hour later, the police dragged out protesters, including an apparently nonviolent protester who was thrown roughly to the sidewalk as several officers held him down and one appeared to strike him in front of several media outlets, including Variety. The crowd chanted "Shame!" and "The whole world is watching!" as the protesters were dragged away. Contact Sam Thielman at sam.thielman@variety.com

Brains and brawn fuel nouveau action heroines
'Hanna''The Debt'The newest Bond girl, Brnice Marlohe, was announced Nov. 3 -- a reminder that even in 2011, that nickname remains. It instantly fires up images of bikini-clad, gun-toting babes emerging from the surf. This isn't to say these actresses weren't capable -- Halle Berry went on to win an Oscar -- but Daniel Craig certainly isn't referred to as a Bond boy, and he never has to get saved in the end. This year, though, a few action films gave actresses opportunities to turn this genre convention on its ear. Even with guns strapped secretly to their well-toned legs, they had thoughts in their brains and strength in their hearts. For "The Debt," director John Madden had to find an actress who could believably grow into Helen Mirren, who plays Mossad secret agent Rachel Singer, charged with tracking down a Nazi war criminal. Jessica Chastain, an unknown at the time of filming, not only landed the role, but her movie presence in 2011 seems ubiquitous. "They both really rose to the challenge," Madden says, who adds that the part "rolled up physical, emotional and moral challenges all in one package." And even in the same role, both surprised Madden throughout filming. "The movie called for Helen to do action sequences at a point in someone's life when you don't usually see that," he explains. "She's fearless." Chastain held her own as well. In one scene, Rachel submits to a gyne cological exam in order to take down the film's villainous doctor. "It's an extremely vulnerable female experience," Madden says. "Yet it required her to be very anti-feminine. "These two carried the knot at the center of the story inside them, and passed that knot back and forth," he adds. "They exchanged notes and watched each other's rehearsals. But it was also very intuitive. They're fierce." At just 16, Saoirse Ronan filmed "Hanna," a movie that required her to do fight scenes with grown men -- at one point, fighting off three at a time. "It was quite fun," she says with a smile. Ronan's challenge lie in creating a teenage girl who was a trained assassin but had never seen the world outside the forest where she grew up. "I would try to remember important experience I'd had, then take them away," she says. "Hanna is seeing everything for the first time, like a child." "Her innocence made her a lot more interesting," adds Ronan. "Children can be wise in a lot more ways than we can because of their innocence." While "Colombiana" didn't score too well with critics, Zoe Saldana's emotional performance got noticed. The actress says after filming "Avatar," she had a taste for more action, and was drawn to the unusual character of trained-on-the-streets Cataleya. "I loved her because she could have easily been a guy," Saldana says. "She's a bit of a thug, and she's primal. Yet that didn't mean she wasn't a woman. She was tough, but fragile too." After seeing her parents killed in front of her as a child, Cataleya is on a revenge mission to find their murderers. "An experience like that changes everything," she says. "She was re-living that loss every day." Saldana does wind up in a T-shirt and underwear for one fight scene, and recalls she had to fight for the shirt. "At times you do feel objectified as a woman," she says. "But you can look amazing on the outside and when you open your mouth your character isn't believable. I have to tackle the person psychologically." And yet Saldana admits there are sensationalist elements at play. "Women are the prettier creatures," she says. "If she's kicking ass, it's going to be seen in a sexual way... We go to the movies to be taken for a ride, so I did want to give people that experience."Award Season Focus: The WomenThesps seize career reins | Brains and brawn fuel nouveau action heroines | Longtime collaborators help dress the parts | Startling discoveries Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

It is so marvelously congratulations I needed to consider cyanide. Very same youthful Indiana Johnson rollercoaster garbage." GrazerBrian Grazer has recognized the task as alternative Oscar producer, the Academy of movement Picture Arts and Sciences introduced Wednesday, ending a days-long term of turmoil that saw the resignations of both producer Brett Ratner and host Eddie Murphy.Though Murphy was unequivocal in the resignation, it has been recommended that Grazer was hired simply to try and lure the rear the comedian, with whom he's labored before: Grazer created "Bowfinger" additionally both "Nutty Professor" films, "Existence," "Boomerang" and many lately "Tower Heist" -- which Ratner directed.Ratner resigned Tuesday evening over his comments in the Friday before, when he told everyone else in a publish-"Tower Heist" screening Q&A that "practicing is perfect for fags." Murphy, who's near to Ratner, tendered his resignation early Wednesday.Reviews appeared right after that Grazer was AMPAS prexy's top choice, so it made official dependent on hrs later."John Grazer is really a famous filmmaker who in the last two-and-a-half decades has created an assorted and remarkable body of labor,Inch Sherak stated inside a statement. Nowhere Flower
Sebastian Arcelus and Marc Kudisch in "Nowhere Flower"
Another Stage presentation from the musical by 50 percent operates by Jim Bauer and Ruth Bauer. Directed by Will Pomerantz, choreographed by Chase Brock.Franz - Sebastian Arcelus
Max - Marc Kudisch
Hannah - Meghan McGeary
Mr. O - Graham Rowat
Maria - Teal WicksThe catchphrase "a completely new musical" is hardly descriptive of "Nowhere Flower," the task by Jim Bauer and Ruth Bauer at Second Stage: You will discover tunes, story, stars plus an eight-piece band, but undertake and don't are used in the traditional manner. It becomes an adventurous, one-of-a-kind and perhaps memorable affair consequently, odds are it'll thrill a specialized audience while baffling patrons who wander in unsuspectingly. Piece is extremely as startling as "The Adding Machine" or "Hedwig as well as the Angry Inch," despite the fact that it could ought to be known to love Tom Stoppard's "Travesties" or Woodsy Allen's "Zelig." The Bauers emerged music, words, gibberish, art and video in to a fascinating whole. The show never stops moving, prodded along by almost constant film forecasted around the roaming 10-ft square screen produced from what seems being newspaper coupled with papier mache. Film is intrinsic for the story, while using Bauers mixing documentary (and mock-documentary) footage with made-to-order art, hands-attracted captions, plus much more. Story notifies of Max Baumann, an Austrian artist focusing in collages. He meets his soulmate Franz in art school in 1910 Berlin. They at the same time be lured by Maria, a investigator, who instantly chooses Franz. Max then finds Hannah, a performance artist. Wake up until 1914, when the boys mind on war. Franz, naturally, doesn't survive. The story continues using the rise in the Nazis and Max's eventual escape to Manhattan. This is not simply fanciful plotting for that Bauers figures seem to become fictionalized versions of publish-expressionist artist Max Beckmann, painter Franz Marc, Dadaist Hannah Hock and chemist Marie Curie (who really was slightly over the age of these). The story, the art, as well as the implosion of two World Wars might leave some playgoers naturally overstimulated. (After being labeled a Degenerate Artist in 1937, Max talks solely in what is known as Maxperanto. But his lecture round the Austrio-Hungarian roots from the First World War is nevertheless marvelously apparent, due to the connected film.) Composer Jim Bauer relieves the barrage of understanding and art by getting an eclectic score. While many of the music is atmospheric in Germany-between-the-wars style, no less than eight in the tunes soar, getting an unexpected country-and-western flavor. Bauer also adds effective orchestrations for strings, accordion together with a haunting bassoon. Marc Kudisch, no stranger to cutting-edge musicals, is close to astonishing as Max. Sebastian Arcelus, late of "Elf," reaches become more impressive with each appearance. He acquits themselves especially well along with his singing of "Franz's War" and "Paradise." The Two women may also be exceptional. Teal Wicks, a alternative Elphaba in "Wicked," is a superb find as Maria she shuts the initial act by getting an ideal solo, "Eiffel Tower," and combines well with Arcelus for "Love." Meghan McGeary plays the startling Hannah, and does perfectly having a couple of difficult Dada material. The composer also offers the four a great quartet to start the second act, "Room But Up." The whole complicated production is great by director Will Pomerantz. "Nowhere Flower" will most likely attract detractors people that don't belong to its spell or aren't inside the mood will most likely grow impatient. Nevertheless the Bauers have created a musical theater piece as rare and provocative just like a blue flower.Sets, Beowulf Boritt costumes, Ann Hould-Ward lighting, Jesse Holder appear, Serta Moses Schreier videography, Jim and Ruth Bauer music director, Dominick Amendum orchestrations, Jim Bauer production stage manager, Diane DiVita. Dark Knight Rises prologue plays before Mission: Impossible
The marketing bods working on Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol are pretty busy at the moment, with the release of a new poster today and another trailer due later this week.To give them a hand, we should point out that this film is not to be confused with Tom Clancy's Ghost Protocol, which Ubisoft plans to make as part of its new focus on movies.Brad Bird's film opens 16 December on US IMAX screens and five days later in conventional cinemas (it opens Boxing Day in the UK).Why the detailed theatrical information? Well, it seems we're not the only ones who want to help Mission: Impossible's marketing team. It's been confirmed that six-minutes of Dark Knight Rises prologue footage will play before Ghost Protocol in swanky IMAX theatres. We say 'swanky' because the whole thing was still just a rumour until it was revealed that only IMAX venues with high-resolution 70mm screens will be able to show the Batman footage."The six-minute Dark Knight Rises prologue footage will only be shown on the higher resolution 70mm IMAX screens. Not the digital IMAX screens. Locations haven't been confirmed yet, so stay tuned for an update on AMC Theatre locations that will be showing the prologue Dark Knight Rises footage at a 70mm IMAX screen nearest you," said an official statement from US cinema chain AMC.Our prediction: expect to see bumper IMAX ticket sales for Mission Impossible 4 and tickets for peak showings changing hands for a lot of money on eBay!

In Honor of the Fine New Footloose Soundtrack, 5 Great Covers of '80s Movie Anthems
I can’t help that the new Footloose movie’s soundtrack is excellent. Trust me, I resisted, but the new collection of old tunes is a proper tribute to Kenny Loggins’s heyday and a thoroughly modern update. Accordingly, we’re revisiting five other covers of ’80s soundtrack gems. Let’s hear it for these five great cover versions; let’s give them all a hand! Alison Krauss, “9 to 5” The 26-time Grammy winner and kickass Robert Plant collaborator covered Dolly Parton’s 1980 typewriter jam for the tribute album Just Because I’m a Woman: Songs of Dolly Parton. This slowed-down version gets saloon grit on Jane Fonda’s ascot. Franz Ferdinand, “Call Me” The coolest band of the ’00s toasted Blondie’s megahit from American Gigolo with a crunchy rock take. If Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton enjoyed pay-pleasure today, I imagine they’d want this playing in the background. Buffy Sainte Marie, “Up Where We Belong” This schmaltzy Oscar winner (perhaps the most dubious victory ever in the category) originally sung by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes turns into a sweet lullaby when one of the song’s original writers, Buffy Sainte Marie, puts her spin on it. So lovely and earthy and fully inhabited — unlike An Officer and a Gentleman. Patti Smith, “When Doves Cry” When she’s not scooping up National Book Awards or covering Nirvana classics, Patti Smith often takes stabs at other well-known tunes. One of her best renditions is of Prince’s Purple Rain phenomenon “When Doves Cry.” Dig, if you will, the passion! Crystal Bowersox, “I’m Alright” American Idol’s ninth season was a dud, which is most unfortunate because Crystal Bowersox is one of the finest, coolest talents the show has ever known. As a toast to Kenny Loggins during “Songs from the Cinema” week, the blonde busker howled the Caddyshack theme with astonishing resonance. As Ellen Degeneres and Kara DioGuardi correctly note, she ended up improving on the tune altogether. Blake Shelton, “Footloose” For the hell of it, here’s an official cut from the new film. Ah, country videos featuring performances on the back of pick-up trucks. A national pastime. Here, The Voice guru Blake Shelton kicks off his Sunday spurs and trills the tune that makes Kenny Wormald jive and thrust. At least he didn’t have to sing “Let’s Hear it for the Boy” in a Deniece Williams falsetto.

CBS moves 'Gentleman' to Saturdays
CBS will replace struggling Thursday comedy "How To Be a Gentleman" with "Rules of Engagement." As of Oct. 20, the veteran half-hour starring David Spade will trade its Saturday 8 p.m. time slot with rookie "Gentleman," which failed to hang on to its Thursday 8 p.m. lead-in, "Big Bang Theory." "Gentleman" will move to Saturday on Oct. 15. "Gentleman" all but signaled its departure from the plum slot when Thursday's episode sank to 7.8 million total viewers, a precipitous plunge from the 13.6 million who tuned in "Theory." While not the cancellation some may have expected after two woeful ratings performances to date, moving "Gentleman" is the first rejiggering CBS has done to its fall schedule, which has otherwise seen some impressive starts out of "2 Broke Girls" and "Unforgettable." A Sentimental Journey: The Story of Doris Day
Sally Hughes plays the 1950s icon in the biographical tuner A Sentimental Journey: The Story of Doris Day.
A Mill at Sonning production of a musical in one act by Adam Rolston directed by Alvin Rakoff.Doris Day - Sally Hughes
Alma Kappelhoff - Elizabeth Elvin
Terry Melcher - Conor Michael
Sheridan George Weidler/ Frank Sinatra - Tom Sellwood
Marty Melcher - Nick WaringWith perfect timing Doris Day has released her first album in 17 years just as U.K. theater the Mill at Sonning prepares to takes its bio-drama about the '50s icon to El Portal Theater in Los Angeles after a successful run on the Edinburgh Fringe. Like Day herself -- or at least her public persona -- the tuner is pleasant, inoffensive and well intentioned, giving auds an excuse to hear the old hits sandwiched between brief vignettes about her life. The low-budget production by helmer Alvin Rakoff, a two-time Emmy winner, is neither demanding nor inspired, but it has a good heart and does some justice to the easy-listening originals. The book by Adam Rolston is a straight-forward run-through of the life of the singer born Doris Kappelhoff in Cincinnati in 1924. It is narrated by Terry Melcher (Conor Michael Sheridan), Day's son by her first husband, trombonist Al Jorden. The show doesn't shy away from the domestic abuse that prompted Jorden's departure, but neither does the episodic script dwell on it. Whatever the dramas in Day's life, another breezy song is never far away. This is not a show that requires our emotional investment; even the death of Melcher, an unusual fate for a narrator, passes swiftly by. Before that point, we get brisk scenes in which Doris marries a fickle George Weidler, then a controlling Marty Melcher, before settling with Barry Comden. There is an early talent contest and the railway-crossing accident that nearly ended her career, as well as the ups and downs of her Hollywood years. For the most part, Rolston writes these snapshots efficiently, even if the credibility of his dialogue sometimes sinks under the weight of factual information. The songs are well integrated, with the exception of "Que Sera Sera" which Day's mother (Elizabeth Elvin) introduces with a clunky, "What will be will be, Doris." It's a self-consciously cheesy line that's not typical of the show as a whole: In general, the songs are well matched to the mood, so "Day by Day" sets out the journey ahead, "Pretty Baby" is about Terry's arrival and "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" responds to the uncertainty of Day's relationship with a shy boyfriend. Crucially, tunes are played with a low-key lack of fuss that this pre-rock 'n' roll music demands. Sally Hughes is an unhistrionic Day with a feel for the honey-voiced girl-next-door charm of a star whose music gave away no secrets about her volatile private life. Supported by a four-piece band, she is the unshowy center of a modest and unpretentious production.Musical numbers: "Que Sera Sera," "Tea for Two, Day by Day," "Canadian Capers (Cuttin' Capers)," "Pretty Baby," "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps," "You Oughta Be in Pictures," "It's Magic," "Love Me or Leave Me," "The Deadwood Stage," "Secret Love," "Move Over Darling," "Young at Heart," "It's Been a Long Long Time," "These Days," "With a Song in My Heart," "Sentimental Journey"Set, Eileen Diss; costumes, Jane Kidd; choreography, Joseph Pitcher; musical direction, Jo Stewart; lighting by Matthew Biss. Anthony Quinns Son, Francesco, Dies at 48
Francesco Quinn, son of legendary Oscar winner Anthony Quinn, died Friday night near his Malibu home. The actor, 48, was reportedly running in the street with his son Max when he collapsed, according to a neighbor who attempted to revive him. "There was a moment where we thought that we were making progress, that we started to sense that this could work," neighbor Tim Lawrence told Malibu Patch. "We were working feverishly at it. But at a certain point it turned, and there was no response." Paramedics came to the scene, but Quinn was pronounced dead at the hospital, the local Patch site reports. Francesco was born in Rome on March 22, 1963, to Anthony Quinn and his second wife, Iolanda. He had a role in Oliver Stone's 1986 Oscar-winning film Platoon, as drug dealer Rhah. He later appeared in several TV shows, including The Young and the Restless, NCIS, ER and 24. He is survived by his wife Valentina Castellani-Quinn and three children. "Francesco was my soulmate and the best father for Sofia, Michela and Max," Valentina told Malibu Patch. "I will love him forever." Related Topics Obituaries

Kevin Smith Explains His Oscar Campaign Plans, Defends $20 Ticket Price for Qualifying Run
When word hit that Kevin Smith was aiming for the Oscars with a qualifying theatrical run for his divisive film, Red State, critics split over his perceived goals and, more specifically, the financial terms of his week-long engagement at L.A.’s beloved, family-run New Beverly Cinema. Reached for comment, Smith explained his award season intent and why he’s charging $20 for a screening and Q&A at a theater where you can get a double feature for $7 every night, often with an amazing Q&A for free. Smith, who’s achieved a successful run thus far with his self-distributed Red State roadshow tour charging $65 a ticket with little advertising costs and expenditures, will screen his film from August 19-25 at the New Beverly Cinema in order to qualify for Academy consideration for his cast, including actors Michael Parks, Melissa Leo, and John Goodman. “To be clear: this Academy-qualifying run is STRICTLY about the ACTORS,” Smith said in an e-mail to Movieline (emphasis his). “I’m not looking for consideration (or even kevsideration) for myself; I just want to see the true talents behind our flick get at least a shot at their propers.” Smith’s overall awards season campaign plans will follow the cost-effective plotting of his release strategy, which was publicized through word of mouth, social media, and Smith’s established fan base and podcast. “Naturally, in keeping with every aspect of [the] Red State adventure thus far, any campaign will be no-budget,” Smith wrote. “I’m hoping common sense saves us a bunch of money for costly trade ads: When December 31st rolls around, if there aren’t five better supporting actor performances than the dramatic clinic Michael Parks operates in Red State, he should get a nod, no? Same with John Goodman. Same with Melissa Leo. Same with anybody in our cast. Why NOT them?” Technically, Smith is not four-walling the New Beverly qualifying run, since it was arranged through director (and New Beverly landlord) Quentin Tarantino. The single-screen theater will serve as a test run for how Red State tours in smaller cinemas in the future, with ticket sales going through Smith’s SModcast.com site. While details of his arrangement with the New Beverly are not known, it’s unclear how ticket sales will be split with the “Mom & Pop single-screen theater tours” planned for this fall. In response to criticisms of the $20 ticket price for his New Beverly run, Smith points out that not only is it a bargain compared to the $65 ticket prices of his Red State USA Tour and his $50 and up Canadian Red Province Tour (Aug. 14-18), there are also lower pricing point options for audiences who want to see his film without spending as much. “When it came to the New Beverly, we figured, ‘$20 bucks for a first-run flick and a Q&A is underselling it, but we might as well fill all the seats for every show by going with a cheap ticket price,’” he explained. “And if $20 is too much, skip the New Beverly screening. Wait two weeks and watch it on any Video On Demand platform for half that price starting Labor Day: $9.99. “And if you don’t want to pay to see it at all, you’ll likely be able to download a Bit Torrent version for free by the end of the Red State Labor Day debut. And still, someone will bitch that even THAT costs too much somehow.” Smith is, ultimately, playing a numbers game as he forges a new path in self-distribution, sans millions in additional P&A and other costs. “I’m really interested in redefining the standard theatrical release window by touring and selling Red State screenings-with-Q&A’s long after the flick is available for home video and streaming,” he emphasized. “The ad-spends that kick in two-weeks-out and cost millions of dollars feel uncreative and wasteful. I’d rather walk down the hill, as the man said, and fuck all of those cows.” And as Smith points out, others are starting to give the added-value theatrical run strategy a shot: “Now that [Francis Ford] Coppola is embarking on his own multi-city, in-person theater tour for HIS film, I won’t be alone out there on the road anymore. Anybody else wanna join us in the future, going all Direct-To-Fan? Come on in: the water’s fine.” As for his critics, Smith remains nonplussed. “Haters gonna hate: so long as they spell the title right and tell folks the name of the theater and the dates we’re playing, I’ve got no complaints.”
